SAN DIEGO ENGAGEMENT
Our plans were originally to have the shoot at the sand dunes, but the dunes were supposed to be hot as hell that day, so we switched the dunes for some artsy spots in Balboa Park and a beautiful sunset at Sunset Cliffs. Then the day came, and gloomy weather was what San Diego wanted to give us… but that didn’t stop Dara and John from being their goofy, loving selves! My goal was to find something architecturally interesting for Dara, who is an interior designer, and something bright and colorful for John because that’s his jam. Balboa Park has a sweet little shopping area that is colorful with some beautiful features, so we hit that up as well as a sweet little cactus garden in the space. Dara’s outfit is going on my list of favorites. FREAKING beautiful. I wish I had it for our Euro trip later in the year. Then we shot over to my fave spot in San Diego, Sunset Cliffs, where D + J popped some champagne, ran around and enjoyed the RIDICULOUS sunset that burst out of the clouds last minute. It. was. divine.
THE LOVE STORY
Dara and John knew each other thanks to John playing on the same hockey team as her brother in high school… the same one her dad coached. They never saw each other as anything more than friends, until rekindling a connection after college while playing on a softball team together! Fast forward, after many travels, playing in the outfield side-by-side, and their first “I Love You’s” on a beach in Puerto Vallarta, they got “fianceed” (as Dara put it) in Coronado! John knew it was Dara’s dream to be proposed to at Coronado, since that was their family’s annual vacation spot and it held a ton of sentiment! Yeeeeah get it John!
