MALIBU CREEK STATE PARK ENGAGEMENT
I never knew how beautiful the mountains were in SoCal until I stepped into Malibu Creek State Park. My husband, Jaime, came alongside me to scout earlier in the day, where feelings of overwhelm hit me. Every corner of this place is GORGEOUS. I knew I needed to find some badass spots to complement the couple. We searched for where the sun was going to set behind the mountains, looked for the most epic trees and climbed a few hills before we found “the one” that was covered in mustard plant! News to all future couples who want to be photographed here: there is about a $100 photo permit, but I think it’s worth every freaking penny. YOU’LL SEE WHY!!!
ABOUT THE COUPLE
Chanel and Corey met working wholesale in fashion over in NY. They worked the same job, but Chanel for the women’s side and Corey for the men’s. It was fashion that brought them together, and a million similar tastes in music, extracurriculars (like wine-tasting, yoga, and family) that sealed the deal. I mean, they also are super in love and look at each other with such tenderness (I can’t look at these photos without tearing up)!
Since they both still live in NY, they got on a plane to California and sneaked in their engagement sesh during a work trip! When we got to Malibu Creek State Park, these two pulled out a garment bag with a Chanel logo on it. That’s when the editorial goddess inside of me was like “yaaas girl,” because I could feel how fashion forward their outfits were gonna be. Sure enough, (and I’m not surprised by this), their outfits were runway worthy.
For the first half, Corey was in a suede chocolate jacket that perfectly matched his handsome shoes, complemented by the lovely Chanel in her daisy dress (are they daisies?!) and the CUTEST BOOTS ON EARTH made by Calvin Klein. Yes, I’m still drooling over the boots! Then, Chanel pulls out this incredible black and white striped gown with a giant bow on the front, to match Corey’s timeless, well-fitted suit. Okay, as you can see, I’m really digging their sense of style.
So at this point, I’m internally freaking out like, “omg they’re going to hate me we might get dirty what to do what to do.” But, to my surprise, Chanel and Corey are chill af.
They crossed a rocky river, sat in fields of weeds, climbed a tree branch, danced through the mustard fields, and sweated a whole lot with me. The entire time, they carried huge smiles and a free spirit between them. I freaking love them. Thank the universe I get to see them again this fall when they get married in Santa Barbara. Ya know that’s gonna be a good one <3
