Oh man, this peacock filled location is one I had dreamed of photographing a wedding at forever! I adore how cozy the whole space is, with lots of nods to Spain with the architecture and lush bougainvillea everywhere. It’s a spot I’d want to roll up to with a blanket, book and glass of wine. What a TREAT it was that I then got to photograph Kyla and Warren here!
Kyla and Warren met in film school in Florida, but have since moved to Los Angeles to work in the industry and build their lives together. They chose Leo Carrillo for its’ open-air, luxe, desert vibes and for the fact that it allowed them to escape Los Angeles for a mini weekend getaway. My favorite design details were that they used many beautiful BRIGHT colors and incorporated that into the ceremony and reception spaces without taking away from Leo Carrillo, or from their wedding attire. It’s no secret I LOVE color and Warren’s burgundy suit mixed with that terra-cotta colored tie — a FAVE! Kyla complemented him with some velvet burgundy heels and flowers in her hair.
Moreover, I adore the heart that lived on at their reception! Kyla had a mother-daughter dance that had my eyes welling up with tears, and then Warren had to come surprise ALL OF US with a choreographed dance to NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye.” They ended the night with two special things: a LAST DANCE without guests watching, just to soak in the day and have a private moment before it was all over; and a flower petal exit, which was honestly so sweet and a great way to swiftly run off as newlyweds.
