LACEY + TYLER // PALM SPRINGS, CA

Lacey + Tyler made their way to Palm Springs from their home in Kansas, on a work trip. When Lacey contacted me about shooting her and her husband, just because they were visiting a place on their bucket list, I was elated, to say the least! Then I met them, heard their story, and fell in love with the way they’ve strengthened their marriage and built a beautiful family over the past few years.

Lacey + Tyler were raw and honest about the hardships they had faced together. They shared how their marriage was struggling for a while, and with two beautiful little girls, they were barely holding their relationship and family together.

But they refused to give up.

Hand in hand, they walked through the fire of those hardships. They led each other back to church, back to their community, and back into the arms of their creator.

They realized their marriage was perfectly imperfect, and that was okay. With renewed faith, they could find solace in that and begin to mend and strengthen their marriage.

They marked their renewed commitment to God and one another, in ink, just after almost ending their marriage. The Trinity Triangle is embedded on both their shoulders. Lacey explained that the triangle is shaped with the point at the top being God and their faith and herself + Tyler are the two bottom points, grounded to the Earth. With arm movement, the triangle becomes altered, signifying the imperfection of being human, but the attachment to Jesus keeps them grounded to their faith.

Today, their marriage is thriving; imperfectly perfect. Lacey + Tyler explained they’ve also made a new commitment to having photoshoots everywhere they travel, as a way to honor their marriage and capture tangible memories for their children to look back on. Growing up, Lacey’s family valued photos as one of the most precious things you could own, and they hope to instill those same values in their children.

Thank you, Lacey + Tyler, for having the vulnerability to share your story with me. You don’t know the impact that one hour I spent with you two has had on my life.
