5 Reasons To Have A Palm Springs Wedding

So you’re looking for that classic Southern California vibe for your wedding, but don’t want to be burdened by the big city fees, traffic and hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. There are tons of smaller areas that have a lot to offer, but Palm Springs (in my opinion) takes the cake. The temperate weather, boutique hotels, stunning views, and loads of entertainment will really set your Palm Springs wedding apart from the crowd, and it’s one of the reasons why my bookings are almost exclusively from here. Here’s a few reasons why, if I could book my wedding again, I’d do it in Palm Springs…

Weather

I’m putting weather first because of the amount of time you have available to you to visit and host a wedding throughout the year. While its hottest months are July, August and September (arguably the most popular wedding months), you have all the winter, spring and fall months to enjoy very warm and temperate weather, giving you plenty of options for when to host your Palm Springs wedding – and potentially off season pricing ;). As an added bonus, warm and temperate weather means your outfit choices will be plentiful!

Style

Speaking of outfits… the style in Palm Springs is unmatched. The boutique hotels with stunning artwork, landscapes and architecture look like something out of a fashion editorial while your ble to wear basically whatever you want to your Palm Springs wedding no matter the time of year. I’ve photographed many Palm Springs weddings so I’ve seen my fair share of incredible outfit choices. Since there is so much Spanish and Mediterranean inspiration in Palm Springs – color is IMPORTANT, and people tend to really lean into the desert vibes, so you’re bound to get wedding photos that stand out.

Views

Palm Springs views are on a whole other level. If you’re looking for sprawling mountains, endless sky and gorgeous natural florals, a Palm Springs wedding will be the perfect fit and honestly one of the best choices to make. Not only do most hotels have incredible rooftops that overlook the mountains, but the town itself has so many fun experiences like hikes to waterfalls and hot springs, the aerial tramway, and hot air balloon rides in order to see the most possible! Pretty much anywhere you look in Palm Springs will be the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos and celebration.

Options

Now it’s not like there are only a couple cute hotels to choose from. I have personally photographed at least 12 different Palm Springs wedding venues, each with their own vibe and personality – and that’s not even half your options. Whether you like a small, intimate wedding or a big blowout, you will have plenty of options to choose from perfectly suited to your needs. Now if you’re booking a whole wedding weekend and have free time that isn’t scheduled, Palm Springs has plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Most of the hotels are walking distance or a short drive to the downtown area that offers plenty of exciting things to do. They have plenty of  gorgeous nature hikes and tours through national parks and nature preserves to get your weekend started off right, but also plenty of health and wellness spas and resorts to fully wind down after wild family fun. Play a round of golf or tennis at one of their many courses, or experience the bustling art scene by exploring the Palm Springs art museum or the Architecture and Design center.

Transportation

Regardless of whether or not you’re having a giant Palm Springs wedding with everyone you’ve ever known, or an intimate ceremony with just family and close friends – getting there won’t be too much of a challenge. Palm Springs is only a short hour and a half drive from Los Angeles, and they also have their very own airport making it a very easily accessible choice for your wedding. If you’re on a budget and don’t want to rent a car, there are shuttle buses that run from downtown Palm Springs to LAX. If you decide to fly right into Palm Springs, shuttle buses from hotels are readily available and it’s also such a small downtown area that any Uber or cab would be a super cheap and fast way to get to your oasis.

There are so many reasons why I love a Palm Springs wedding, but easy transit for family, plenty of options for a stylish and gorgeous space, and incredible weather pretty much all year round are all things I would look to first when looking for a wedding venue. Everything else can be pretty well curated, but it’s pretty tough to find a perfect 10 on all these things, and Palm Springs takes the top spot every time in my book.

Check out some of my favorite Palm Springs wedding venues here, and if you want to make sure you book a photographer who understands the landscape, and will always get those money shots that bring the environment to life through your wedding photos, inquire with me here. I’m now booking weddings for 2023!
