We spent 6 hours together, but I felt like I had known Christy and Patrick for a lifetime. To say we’re kindred spirits is an understatement. I’m also not shy to say I literally asked their family to adopt me because their genuine welcoming spirits, brilliant humor and all of the love was so addictive. It’s no wonder they wanted to spend this sweet elopement day with their nearest and dearest. Before I got on the phone with Christy, I was a little nervous because she’s a talented photographer in Nashville. I was freaking honored to be heading to South Lake Tahoe with them. Flash forward to this calm day full of all the jokes, a baby bear scare (more on that later), hiking to see the best views + capturing their sweet love, it’s easy to want to go back and do it all over again. Patrick tells these hilarious jokes: he starts off by telling you a story from his past, except it’s not a story from his past, it’s the storyline from a movie and he’s waiting to see how long it takes you to catch on. I died laughing since I’m a hugely gullible human. Christy sings everything that comes out of her mouth, like a sweet baby angel. They’re so comforting to be around. This story has become about how much I love Christy and Patrick and less about how much they love each other, but it’s hard not to share how beautiful their personalities shine!
Having a nickname for your partner is a sweet thing to me. Jaime and I call each other ñeco and ñeca, short for muñeco/a which is Spanish for “doll.” I know, I know, sappy. Christy and Patrick call each other “bear,” which was sweet to hear them say all day, except for when Patrick shouted “bear” and we sincerely thought he was trying to get Christy’s attention, when there was actually a bear approaching the trail we were on. We decided we didn’t want to be mauled by a super cute bear that day + walked backwards until we knew they were gone. Later, I found out Lake Tahoe Bears are harmless, “dumpster” bears who don’t normally hunt in the wild. Still, ya never know.
Christy and Patrick, I 10000% plan on making my way to Nashville sometime this year. I’m having withdrawals. Sending you guys lots of love! xoxo
