ALISON + STEVE

Alison + Steve are those two rare love birds who have surpassed all of life’s hurdles to stay in love and build a strong, beautiful relationship. We’re talking that long-distance love while Alison moved back and forth between New Hampshire city + San Diego; that 15 years in love kind of love. These two are high school sweethearts with a movie script love story – you know, the one where the cute, shy girl falls in love with the local drummer-boy. Since moving to San Diego, FINALLY together, Alison and Steve wanted a truly unique experience when they officially became husband and wife. Listening to them introduce each other as husband and wife after the ceremony, was the most emotional part of their day. A moment they had been building up to and waiting for, for 15 years.

Alison recounted how the two of them met:

“We met in high school, but actually grew up less than 2 miles apart! He was in a local rock band (drummer!). I was sort of the shy, gawky girl. We were like two lovebirds throughout all of high school, passing notes in the hallways, biking to each other’s houses after school. “

I love how impulsive Steve was to pop the question because he just couldn’t hang on any longer. Plus, Alison wasn’t expecting anything, so it made the day even more special!

“Steve popped the question last July in Solana Beach. We had just gone to a sweaty spinning class, and he sneakily had hid the ring in his gym bag! He changed after class, and I didn’t. We decided to take a spontaneous stroll along the beach, and before I knew what was happening, he was down on one knee and told me he couldn’t wait any longer! We celebrated that night at Herringbone in La Jolla!”

Alison + Steve wanted their elopement to be the product of one question: “What would our most perfect day in San Diego look like?” That meant hanging out, cuddling in their home on a casual Monday morning before meeting at one of Alison’s favorite murals in San Diego. The entire day was a huge representation of the adventurous souls these two hold, and the colorful spirits they are! This colorful wall was more than perfect for their first look.

Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is one of those standout venue’s with the perfect view of the San Diego cityscape. Alison and Steve have spent the past 5 years building a life in San Diego and wanted to celebrate it’s beauty in some way. We had a gorgeous backdrop that will forever be the place they first became husband + wife!

Bethel of Ceremonies by Bethel spoke the sweetest words using quotes from Alison + Steve. It was hard to hold back the water works.

Introducing themselves to Bethel as Husband + Wife for the very first time was probably the most emotional part of our time with these two.

San Diego has an amazing span of architecture, nature and entertainment in Balboa Park; a place Alison + Steve often go to to spend quality time together. We waltzed through the gorgeous Cactus Garden for some romantic photos of just the two of them.

Sailing away from San Diego harbor with champagne + snacks + your NEW husband/wife = pretty much the best fairytale ending to a perfect date day in San Diego. If only it ended there 😉 Alison and Steve had two hours alone in the ocean and then headed up to Carlsbad for a romantic, private dinner and a luxury night stay at the Omni La Costa. What a dream!
