Sydney + Zack had just eloped at the courthouse in Tucson, Arizona, prior to jumping in their car and taking a road-trip honeymoon through California. Spontaneously and passionately, they said their I do’s and headed out towards me. We woke up to catch the desert sunrise out in Palm Springs. We noticed that the full moon was still out, getting ready to set just as the sun rose, which made the morning more tranquil and glorious. Slightly tired and a tad bit hungover from celebratory drinks the night before, we wandered through the desert, where I had Sydney and Zack read their vows to one another and share in a quick dance. Their song of choice filled the desert (just hit play below if you want to hear!) and they calmly enjoyed this peaceful morning together as husband and wife. In that moment, I realized they melt into each other so easily and truly enjoy their time together. Forget that they were still trying to wake up, or that it was already 90 degrees at 6am in Palm Springs.
All of this reminds me of Sydney and Zack’s favorite memory together, another road trip at the beginning of their relationship:
“After a couple of months of dating, we went on our a road trip to some hot springs in Utah and then over to Colorado to visit my hometown. On the way back, we were driving through mountain towns with windy roads, with 7 or 8 hours still ahead of us. We started playing the alphabet game with road signs to pass the time, and got so into it that we ended up missing one of our turns. I don’t remember how long it took us to figure it out, but we still laugh about it, and it was fun to be competitive and playful.”
Thankfully, the sweet owner of Ernest Coffee had previously okayed us heading into their shop for coffee and photos – so we headed out to enjoy the delicious latte’s they serve up there (I had a vanilla latte infused with real vanilla bean AND an iced chai – both ridiculously delicious). We were so grateful to be wandering the streets of Palm Springs early in the morning, which made the whole time very private and allowed these two sweethearts to continue relaxing throughout the day before they left for their next HoneyMoon destination.
